Arlington, Texas Dental Help For Low Income

Dental Health Arlington (DHA) is a nonprofit organization, which opened its doors in 1993 to provide access to care for low-income residents of southeast Tarrant County, Texas.  Our mission is to provide preventive and pain relieving services to low income residents as well as to educate children about good oral hygiene habits.  Each year DHA provides free and low-cost dental care for approximately 2,500 people of all ages in our clinic.  SMILES school-based prevention program helps 8,000 disadvantaged elementary school children in Arlington, Mansfield and Fort Worth who might otherwise have gone without care.

-Dental Health Arlington’s clinic sees people of all ages who are economically disadvantaged.

-There is no residency restriction.

-Those who can prove they live in Arlington and are on a government assistance program can receive lower cost services due to a special grant from the City of Arlington.

In the Pre-Doctoral Clinics, dental students provide services under the close supervision of experienced faculty dentists. The students conduct a thorough evaluation to diagnose each patient’s needs and develop a comprehensive treatment plan before beginning treatment.

Children's Dental Services For Low Income Familes In Minnesota

Services
Children's Dental Services provides dental care for children whose families cannot pay for dental care, and for children with insurance.  CDS accepts most insurances and provides assistance in applying for public insurance programs.

The Children's Dental Services clinical headquarters located at 636 Broadway Street NE, Minneapolis, is equipped with five dental operatories and nitrous oxide analgesia for fearful or uncooperative children. The seventeen Children's Dental Services satellite clinics have one or two operatories each and are located in schools or Head Start centers. All sites have intraoral x-ray machines and CDS has the capability to produce digital x-rays.   All routine dental treatment can be done at all sites. Children with behavioral problems and patients needing emergency care are referred to Headquarters for treatment.

Satellite clinics are staffed with a dentist or dental hygienist and one or two dental assistants. Children with parental consent are provided dental treatment during school hours. If parents or guardians wish to be present for their children's dental care, appointments are scheduled in the location most convenient for the family. Neighborhood children are scheduled during bussiness hours in school clinics or after school at Headquarters. CDS Staff working in schools return to Headquarters after school to see patients.

In addition to providing high-quality dental services at 18 locations in the Twin Cities Metro area, CDS hosts an internship program, an oral health screening program, and Native American, Somali, Oromo, and Hispanic outreach programs.

In February 2008, Children's Dental Services launched services in Duluth, MN where public elementary and headstart students will be served.

Who is Eligible?
Children from birth to age 18 and pregnant women can receive dental care from Children's Dental Services without regard to income, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, affectional preference, disability, age, marital status, public assistance status or ex-offender status.  Children from age 18 to 21 can receive care if they are insured.

Children with painful emergency dental problems are often seen the same day without waiting to determine if they are financially eligible.

To determine eligibility for free care or care on a sliding scale, a parent or guardian provides CDS a tax statement or pay stubs.  Families who do not have medical insurance must apply for Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, or Assured Access. CDS provides assistance to families in completing the forms necessary to apply for these programs.
